Do I LOOK like Buddha?

Ok - that is a rhetorical question but the first time I have had an issue with "belly rubbing" was today during my junior homeroom class. What the heck? I told them I am pg at the end of class and they went nuts and the girls who gave me a hug took the opportunity to rub my belly. It was embarassing.

I can handle telling an adult to back off but my kids are so happy and I think part of it is a cultural thing with my latina girls. Must think of how to handle this....

  • I have the same issue.  I know my students are going to want to rub my bloat when I tell them and I just don't have the heart to tell them to get away.

DH thinks it "can't be that bad as long as they don't poke it like the Pillsbury doughboy"  I haven't been rubbed yet, but I've decided for every belly rub I get, he will get two from me!

My friend had a rule when she was pregnant.  They could only touch her belly on Fridays after class was over and questions could be answered then as well.  They wre asking so many questions in the middle of class that they weren't getting thier stuff done!

  • One of my aunts was a notorious belly rubber. DH actually told her once that I am "pregnant, not freaking Buddha".

My MIL also used to poke my belly. Weird anyway, but super weird because she's never even hugged me or made any sort of warm physical gesture, so for her to even touch me was strange.
