Dallas-Fort Worth Babies

So, you won't believe what happened last night.

It was around 8:30, already dark out, and my dh (Mike) is a property adjuster and get's a call from a couple at our church b/c they had a water leak and were not sure what to do. Mike ended up telling them he would have to come over to see where the water was leaking from.

So, he starts to leave and pull out of the driveway and he sees a little boy with no jacket on riding his big wheel in the middle of the street. He stops the boy and asks him where his parent are. He told Mike his mom and boyfriend are sleeping, and his dog ran away so he had to go look for his dog. Mike asked him where he lived and he said he didn't know. Mike ends up calling 911 and within 1 min. a fire truck and 3 cop cars show up at our house.

They had been searching for the little boy who was only 5 yrs old, for an hour and a half all over Forney. One of the firefighters told Mike he just searched our neighborhood a couple of min. before.

We were really worked up about this last night, I have not had an adrenaline rush like that in a really long time. What a sorry excuse for a mother that women is and hopefully what happened last night will open her eyes. I mean, anything could have happened to that baby, he could have gotten run over, or abducted, or anything! Just wanted to share this crazy story.

  • That is awful! Thank God that your DH found him and not some crazy person.

  • OMG how did the kid get out?  How scary!  So the mom had already realized he was gone and they had been searching already...at least that's good.

He told Mike that he ran out the door to find his dog. When he got in the cop car, the police asked him if he wanted to take his big wheel and he told them he borrowed it from someone and it was not his. We don't know where he got if from so the cop just left it. The mom told the police she was asleep for about an hour, so who know how long the little boy was riding/walking without any supervision. Also, the police asked him if he lived at ___ and he didn't know, but we didn't recognize the street so it was no where near where we live.

This is what I thought too. ?

  • Wow! How sad and scary is that.....I would have wanted to kick his parents arses, ugh. This kind of crap is just completely unacceptable and makes my skin crawl every time I hear a story like this. Thank God your DH found him and he wasn't harmed. Let's just hope that his mother gets a clue and changes her ways before something else happens and the outcome isn't so good.
  • This makes me want to put some sort of high up lock on our front and back doors.

My husband is such a nerd he has already done this.  Our house is like Fort Knox.

That is so scary though.  I remember I ran away when I was around five to go play at the park in the pond.  My parents were crazy with worry.  I had been playing outside and just wandered off.  I got in sooo much trouble.

Yeah. ?Not saying the mom is mother of the year or anything, but shittt happens. ?Kids can get out of the house and wander off when you're cooking dinner. But, I agree, if she was sleeping during the day and not watching him, then she sucks. ?On the other hand, though, maybe she thought he was taking a nap, too, and he woke up early and got out? ?

Either way, so glad you found him and that he was safe! ?I'm shuddering just thinking about what could have happened. ?Anyone seen Changeling??

I have not seen this on the grounds that (A) I don't like homewrecking ho-bags and (B) I need to earn a living and I fear that I'd never let Ainsley leave my sight if I watched that movie.

Yeah I just saw Changling last week, so sad.  I just hugged Keanan the entire time I watched it.  I still can't believe that was based on a true story.  What that women went through...

  • Yes, she was sleeping in the middle of the day and not watching her child... she does suck. I do understand shitt can happen though, I just felt so bad for the little boy.

Good idea. My DS can figure out door knob locks, so we keep meaning to get those locks at Home Depot!

  • I think putting locks up high is a great idea!

I think my statement of her being a sorry excuse for a mother was harsh, just going through that last night with the poor boy made me so sad!

::gigglesnort:: ?I, too, hate whorefaceBradstealingAngelina. ?It just happened to be about the only decent movie available when we went to that Red Box thing. ?I was super, super sad after it though. ?It totally killed my movie night buzz.?

Yeah, Hudson seems to be getting darn close to figuring them out too and I keep tell David that we must go get some other type of lock to install higher up towards the top of the door so he can't open it on his own. Hudson is starting to get MUCH more curious and independent, so I can see him trying to go outside say, when one of us goes to the bathroom or something like that and he has just *that* long to sneak away and the sheer thought of it freaks me out.

On that note, I agree, she could have thought he was napping with her and he got up on his own, but it sounds more likely to me like a case of negligence on her part. I'm just glad that he was found safe.

  • Thank goodness you & your DH are good people!
