time out for not listening

ds is 2 and has ben testing us lately. If we ask him to do something sometimes he says no and refuse. After a few times and counting to 3 I have been doing a time out. the offenses aren't horrible, but kits more that he didn't listen.

I do the same but give a warning, "I'm going to count to 3 and if you are not .... you will go to time out." ?DD is older and has gotten a bit sassier. ? If she gives me lip, she goes straight to timeout. ??
