Hi Ladies!
I'm new to this board, I was a GP'er but stopped
visiting when I was laid off and we put TTC on hold after 8 months.
What do you know, 3 months later we are KU.
I was wondering how
far along you were before you told family and friends and how you did
it? We don't plan on telling our families till our first ultrasound but
this will be the first grandbaby so I want to make it something
special for them and though I have ideas they are definitely needing some perfecting.
Re: Intro & Question
Congrats & Welcome!
We haven't told anyone yet. We're waiting until we're in 2nd tri. I'm going to tell families on Mother's Day. I'm going to buy picture frames that are engraved with "I love my Grandma & Grandpa" or something similar and put an u/s pic in them. Then give them to my mom & MIL as a "normal" Mother's Day gift. The whole family will be there so they'll figure it out when the mom's start freaking out!!
We told our parents/siblings right away. We went out and got a grandchild picture frame & put a pic of my + test in it and wrapped it up. We told them the day before Valentine's so we told them it was their gift from us. It was great to watch them open it up and figure out what it meant. I would have put an u/s pic in it, but I have yet to have one!
Congrats on your BFP!!
I was sure I wasn't going to tell anyone till I was atleast 12 weeks before I got pregnant, but once I got the BFP I couldn't keep it in and started telling family right away. It was also Valentine's Day when we found out so I wanted to share the news with the ones I love. I told most everyone else after we had our first u/s and heard the heartbeat.
Another thing that helped change my mind on waiting to tell, was my cousin had a m/c a month before at 13 weeks and she told me not to wait because there are just no gaurantees.
BFP#1 on 02/14/09 BIRTH to Mason 6lb9oz on 10/12/09
BFP#2 on 5/28/11 EDD 2/1/12 Natural M/C on 6/13/11
BFP#3 on 1/20/12 EDD 9/30/12 Natural m/c on 1/27/12
BFP#4 on 4/23/12 BIRTH to Isabella 7lb1oz on 12/19/12
It all depends on what you are comfortable with. We started telling this week. I am 9 weeks today. After seeing the heartbeat it seemed right. There is NO WAY I could have waited another 3 weeks. No way!
congratulations! ?this is our 2nd, so we don't plan to wait very long. ?with our first we took all our parents out for dinner and announced it around 6 weeks. We waited until 12 weeks to tell everyone else. ?I think for this one we are going to get a cute little "i am going to be a big sister" shirt from etsy and have our daughter wear it at her birthday party. ?I will be 8 weeks at that point...
?
best of luck to you!?
Congrats!
Everyone knew at 5w.
We sent my parents a picture frame that says "Our First Grandbaby". It has blocks and bright colors, really cute. Then, we put a post-it on the spot for the picture that said "See Ya in October...Love, Your First Grandbaby".
My mom was completely floored that she received anything like that and called me crying. Once, we knew that they received the gift, we told everyone else.
Congrats!! We told parents at 6 weeks and everyone else after my 11 week app. For the parents we just called too excited to think of a better way. I like the picture ideas though.

Congrats to you all as well, I love all of your ideas!!
We told my mom the same day we found out, and told his parents that weekend. We gave them a bib-they were so surprised! And a couple of close friends.
I am waiting to tell others until my 12 weeks.
