3rd Trimester

Your going to give birth to a toddler.

That's what my sister told me when I first told her we were expecting. Well according to the Dr it may actually happen. I went in for my appointment on tuesday I was measuring 35 weeks and she said the belly all baby.Indifferent  Dr is estimating Maggie's weight around 5 lbs now and if she gains a lb a week we're looking at a 12lb baby at full term.Ick! And I wanted a natural, drug free child birth.

So we have an u/s scheduled for 36 weeks and at that point they will decide wether or not to go in and take her early.

That's my update, how's everyone doing??

  • I'm starting to feel like this too. My baby is already 3lbs 13oz.. she's going to be wearing 2T clothes when she's born.

  • Uh oh!  I've heard that some babies run out of room and don't put on much the last couple weeks-maybe that will be the case with yours?  Or maybe she'll come a couple weeks early?

  • i thought in the last month the baby gains about 1/2 lb a week (or at least thats what my WTEWYE says). so hopefully you wont be having a 12lb baby!

  • 12 #'s! Yowza! Good luck, hopefully at 36 weeks if she is still really big, they will take her out at 37... and you can still have a natural birth.
  • Good luck with your u/s in a few weeks.  Hopefully she isn't too big!  FWIW, I've always heard it was a 1/2 lb a week, not a full lb, and only for the last month.

  • WOW!  I crossed my legs in pain just thinkin about  12 lbs!

  • I"m measuring two weeks ahead right now too.  Same as last month  My midwives don't seem to be concerned in the slightest and they know I want an unmedicated birth, too!  hope everything goes well for you.
  • Babies don't gain a pound a week for the last 8 weeks. Otherwise everyone in the world would be having 10+ pound babies, wouldn't they. Where did you get that idea?

  • FWIW, Gavin was measuring way big around 31 weeks, and now is not expected to be more than the 7-8 pound range.  He kind of leveled off after a while.

Dr said she estimated that if Maggie continued growing the way she was that she could be 12 lbs at birth. So when I did the math that's the way it worked out.

  • Don't panic!  From 33 weeks to 37 weeks my girl went from 4 lbs 7 oz to 7 lbs 1 oz. which is a little more than 1/2 lb a week.  Basically, I'm looking at about 9 lbs on delivery.  We can do it!!!  Have faith and keep breathing!!!
