1st Trimester

New Here and really nervous

Hi All,

This is my first post here...and my first time being pregnant. I'll give a quickie history on me:

- 2nd IVF, successful!!

- we are 5 weeks and 3 days along

- transferred two "perfect, textbook (acc. to embrylologist) 8 celled embryos

- Beta#1 3/26/09 = 202

-Beta#2 3/28/09 = 561 (they only do two betas if number doubles)

- 6w ultrasound sched for next tuesday...am terrified and really scared

So, after finding out the amazing news, the honeymoon period is over and I've given over to bouts of giddiness along w/ bouts of major doubt and fear. Are my beta #'s good? I know that w/ numbers like that, they most likely aren't twins...I have no M/S, today, I feel nothing. No mild cramping, no low back aches, bbs aren't that sore...i feel like not much of anything is going on at all and it's freaking me out. Yesterday, had minor cramps and pretty bad low back ache. Dr. said cramping like i've been having is very normal, esp.since there's no bleeding at all with it, but why am I still worried? I've also been pretty sleepless the past 2 weeks, waking 3-4 times a night for no reason, yet being exhausted in the late morning then again late afternoon...yet last night and night before, I slept almost the whole night through. I don't seem to feel like i have to pee all the time like all the 1st trimester info says. I just don't feel like this is normal or whatever. Am i just lucky? do i just have the jitters?

you've prob. heard all this bs before :-) Thoughts?!

  • Congratulations and welcome!

First of all it's completely normal to be nervous.  You've gone through a lot to get where you are and you want everything to go well!!!

Just remember that it's normal to not have many symptoms as early as you are.  I find that they come and go depending on the day.  Everyone is different and we all have different symptoms at different times.  For me it was gradual and hit me hard just this week.  Keep an eye on things and make sure that you're taking care of yourself but try not to worry too much.  Enjoy every moment (and celebrate being M/S free while you can - it's not pretty!).

  • BREATHE! I know how you feel, but the more you worry the more stressed you get and the baby doesn't need stress. Congrats and ENJOY being pregnant! I was/still am a little worried about problems, but everyday I say "today I am pregnant and each day is a milestone." GL and congrats Momma!
