torn on strollers

I REALLY like the BOB and the Bumbleride.  The problem is the cost.  I dont really jog though I do walk and we have levies and 2 college campuses to walk on.  but then I look at something like the Combi and it has all the cup holders and stuff and is WAY less.  I know its not a jogger but it is functional and economical.  We live in a mid sized valley city.  We dont often go to places like SF (but do at times).  MIL lives just outside Monterey so we are known to go there.

We sepnt today at the SF zoo and pointed out a few double bobs to DH and he didnt seem thrilled.  Do I try to get him to want this stroller?  Do I even need it or is it just a want?  OH as you can see we are in sunny california so shade and fluids are a BIG deal in the summer.

Re: torn on strollers

  • I totally feel you on that! We were all set to get a BOB ... until it turned out our REI dividend was a lot less than we expected and we just couldn't justify the expense. Now we're looking into Combis, Inglesina Twin Swift, and similar. I don't jog either ... but I did luuurve the BOB when I test-drove it in the store, and what gets me is how overwhelmingly positive every BOB owner I've talked to has been about it!
That said, I know what you mean about all the nice little features ... and cost! on some of the others. Plus I have a feeling in the end I'll be glad to have a more lightweight stroller that takes up less trunk space!

  • We sprang for the City Mini, which isn't as pricy as the Bob or Bumbleride, but still up there.  The main reason I got it was because I walk the girls with our dog daily and needed a stroller I could steer with one hand.

I like the City Mini lots, but if I didn't have the dog in the equation I would go for the Combi Twin Sport.  Those snack trays, it being lightweight and the simplicity of it look like everything you need to me.

  • i do love our combi, it's great, but not so much for unpaved surfaces. how are the levees and campuses? paved? smooth grass? if so, then the combi would be okay, but what about an inexpensive double jogger? maybe keep an eye out on craigslist? hmm.
