Does advil/tylenol or anything like that help with pain from a cut?

I sliced my thumb pretty badly this morning and it is throbbing right now. ?Would taking anything help or do I just have to deal with it? ?

  • Yes, motrin is an anti-inflammatory, so that'd probably be best.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • thanks, Anne! that makes sense--i just always think of it as only working on internal pains like headaches or cramps.

  • Both work on the brain's perception of the pain not the site, though advil is also anti-inflammatory to the blood vessels in the site which may be helpful. On the other hand it may make it bleed more in some people.

Personally I think tylenol is nothing but liver-poison and has never done anything for pain worth mentioning. I would go for 8mg codeine phosphate which is OTC in Canada, Australia, the UK and most of the western world.
