Does advil/tylenol or anything like that help with pain from a cut?

I sliced my thumb pretty badly this morning and it is throbbing right now. ?Would taking anything help or do I just have to deal with it? ?

Yes, motrin is an anti-inflammatory, so that'd probably be best.  Hope you feel better soon!

thanks, Anne! that makes sense--i just always think of it as only working on internal pains like headaches or cramps.

Both work on the brain's perception of the pain not the site, though advil is also anti-inflammatory to the blood vessels in the site which may be helpful. On the other hand it may make it bleed more in some people.

Personally I think tylenol is nothing but liver-poison and has never done anything for pain worth mentioning. I would go for 8mg codeine phosphate which is OTC in Canada, Australia, the UK and most of the western world.
