How long did your LO stay in NB diapers?

L is still in hers.  she's had two blowouts where it exploded from the back, is 2 blowouts 2 too many?  she will be six weeks this thursday.  i guess what i'm trying to ask, witht he risk of sounding like a total moron, how do you know when the diapers don't fit anymore?  we've tried size 1's on her and they just look huge. oh, and we are using swaddlers.

Re: How long did your LO stay in NB diapers?

  • Until like 2.5 months. We ran out and bought 1s and even though they were big for a little bit, they are fine now.

  • DS is only a month old and i switched him last week to size 1's. The newborns were making him red and he had marks from the elastic in the legs.
  • 6w. ?He's still in 1s now though... soon moving to 2s.
  • 7 weeks maybe?  We went from (1) Pampers Newborn to (2) Huggies Newborn to (3) Pampers 1-2.  The diapers seemed to fit his butt in that order.
  • We put DD in 1's about 3wks ago so about 7wks?  The NB still fit in the waist but were too short for her torso.  We are overlapping the stickies on the 1's and they are big in her tooshy but she seems more comfortable.  They cover over her belly button.  Try the 1's and see.  They go by weight but DD was WAY under the 1's weight when we switched.   I think it depends more on their body type...

  • I had Kelsey in preemie diapers for probably 3 weeks and then newborns from 3-6 weeks, and then started on size 1s.  I would much rather the diapers be a little big than too snug.
  • About 6 weeks. The size 1s looked huge, but they worked.

  • we just made the switch at 7 lbs or so, mostly because buying more seemed silly when we already had some size 1s :)

  • At about 6-7 weeks. DS weighed about 10.5 pounds. The size 1s were a bit big on him, but the NB were too small.

  • 5 weeks, we just moved to size 1 this week. They got tight around the legs and waist
  • I'm struggling with this myself. Up until a few days ago, she was definitely still in the newborn size (of the swaddlers). She's had a few blowouts up the back and it seems like they are too tight around her legs now. However, the size 1s are definitely too big . . . she's leaked out of them b/c they are too big. Someone gave us the N size of playskool diapers and they are bigger than the swaddlers, but they aren't nearly as soft, but we're using them for now (until we run out). Maybe by the time we run out she'll be in the size 1 of pampers.
  • Exactly 1 month. He was in 1's at the end/beginning of January.

Same here. DH bought size ones by mistake -- so we put him in them. They actually fit a bit better. We moved him up to size 2 last week because he started having daily blowouts. He's a big pooper.

  • Man- Abbey is the big girl of this group!  She was in newborns for about a week- even at the hospital they were giving her size 1!  She was big though- 9lbs 6 oz.  She was in size one until 7 weeks, then up to size 2.  They are still big in the tush & the waist tabs have room to grow, but we didn't want her squeezed.

  • DS never wore NB diapers! He went straight into sz 1.  He was 9lbs., 9oz at birth, though!  Now, at 5 months, he is in sz 3 :)
  • DD was never in newborn diapers, she started in size 1's and is now in a size 3 already!
