ZANTAC'S AWFUL TASTE

As many of you warned, Keira HATES the taste of her Zantac. ?It is impossible to force it into her. ?Can it be diluted with anything? ?TIA

Our pedi sent the prescription into a pharmacy that will flavor it (our clinic doesn't flavor meds).  We pick it up at Target with grape flavor.  It's still got a strong taste, but DS has adapted well and no longer squirms when we give it to him.

How long have you been giving it?  DS hated it in the beginning and then started to tolerate it after about a week.  Sadly now when he sees me coming with his meds he gets all excited for them

that stuff is awful. it smells like peppermint, so i figured it would taste like that as well. i got a tiny drop on my finger and so i figured i'd taste it - ICK!

we mix ours in with his bottle. he doesn't even seem to notice. we just have to make sure he takes the entire bottle then.

A trick that worked for us was to put it in a nipple and have her suck it out of that. It seemed to go down real fast and I think she got less of a taste of it. Then we would give her the bottle to wash the rest down. It was so much better than forcing it in with the syringe.

our first bottle we didnt think to flavor it....i tasted it and told dh it was like cheap rum!  we gave her a little at a time in her cheek....she would make an awful face but take it.  Also sometimes i would pump an oz or 2 and put it in there.  when we got it refilled we had pharmacy flavor it.  pharmacist said grape was only flavor strong enough....she takes it better now but still is not thrilled about it

You can take it to Target and they'll add the grape flavor for free. (to any medication actually)

Thanks everybody! ?She did a little better with it today. ?I put it in a nipple with the tiniest bit of formula. ?I plan on checking out my Target for that grape flavoring though!
