~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~

This is a list of women who are dealing with PCOS. Anyone can join in, so let me know if you want to be on this list! We can keep track of everyone?s cycle, offer advice, and support for each other. We check in every Tuesday and Thursday, and the check-ins can always be found in the PCOSbio.

Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust to everyone!

Let us know how you are doing. If you have any questions for the group to answer, feel free to ask.

QOTD: I was just diagnosed this past week. I was just wondering if any of you ladies with PCOS would like to share any insight with me of whats to come. Thanks.

Re: ~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~

  • Doing okay. ?I'm 14dpIUI and got a BFN on HPT this morning. ?Still no AF, but my beta is not until Friday. ?I am not feeling too optimistic now. ?So I am trying to find the positive in the negative... ?I have a vacation to Europe in a few weeks and I will be able to enjoy wine! ?

I am also finding that I have a lot of questions that I would love to have answered by my doctor, if only I could ever see him...for example, what % of PCOSers eventually get pregnant? ?Perhaps some of you have discussed success rates with your doctors (maybe a good idea for the next QOTD)?

7/2009 - Gonal-F cycle #2 with Ovidrel trigger and IUI #5 - BFP! Twin boys born at 38 weeks 3 days! 8 months later...spontaneous BFP! And twins again! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I'm cycling for IUI #1 with injectables...on CD 10 I only had one follie at 14mm...the rest were at 10-12.  Seems I somewhat of a slow responder.  I might be triggering tomorrow for IUI on Friday, but might not.

     Good luck, girls!

  • I'm gearing up for a lap with ovarian wedge resection and hysteroscopy in about 3-4 weeks.  We're hoping that this will reverse the effects that PCOS has had on my ovulation as a long term solution instead of moving to Gonal-F for ovulation induction.

  • Had yet another large temp shift this morning. Hopefully this one stays high and I O'd. Other then that, not much going on. The s/e of the Met are more or less gone unless I eat something really really crazy.

QOTD-This is really a tough one to answer, what comes next depends on how severe and what symptoms you have. For me after I was diagnosed with blood work I was put on Metformin and scheduled an ultrasound to check for cysts and follow up blood work a month later. I started O'ing on Met alone, so that's where I am at this point. GL!

  • I FINALLY started my period! I took my first BCP last night and have my injection class next thursday. IVF here we come!
  • CateElizabeth sorry to hear about the BFN. Maybe your beta will bring better news.

Update: I'm on lupron right now as I'm doing a FET in a few weeks. It's very easy compared to a fresh IVF cycle.

QOTD: PCOS is such a broad diagnosis that it effects people different ways. My doctor immediately prescribed Metformin for me. I took it upon myself to change my eating habits and lose 10% of my body weight as I've read that those can be big factors to helping fertility.

  • Hi there.
I'd like to join, if possible. I was diagnosed in January with PCOS and am currently on my first round of clomid.

    Thanks!

  • I started Femara 2.5mg today. I'm uping my dosage of glucophage gradually from 500mg to 2000mg which 1000mg last night upset my stomach today. I have HCG script ready for u/s on the 9th. pray for good follies.

QOTD: PCOS has different effects on different woman. I have gained alot of weight so my RE says 30min walks everyday, cut out carbs & eat more protein. I know woman who do get pregnant but it's the time & appts to figure out what is needed

  • I *think* I ovulated, although I never did get a +OPK and I didn't chart this month. I'm going in for bloodwork tomorrow to be sure. Then, the waiting game begins again.

QOTD: PCOS is such a broad diagnosis that I'm not sure I'll be much help. I have an ovulatory form of PCOS and I don't have a lot of the other usual symptoms (like wieght gain or irregular periods), and I'm also one of the few who is not taking Metformin (at least not yet). We just started treatment and I'm taking 2.5 mg of Femara right now, so we're just seeing what happens this cycle and going from there.

  • I am currently in my 2ww, CD 28, 6 DPO. Hopefully this will be a good cycle for us. If not onto the next one. I have been pretty busy and next week is going to be busy so I can keep my mind off things and try to relax.  GL everyone...

  • I need all the QOTD help that you guys can give. Whatever question is on your mind, don't be afraid to ask. Reminder, I am doing the quarterly clean-up before the next check-in.

Our list keeps growing longer and longer and I just wish everyone would check-in once in awhile.

I am in the 2ww, 2-3dpo and I go for my P4 test next Monday. Other than that, things are going well (other than my sticking keyboard).

  • I posted most of this on the main board but here goes:

t's been a while since I've been on the boards....after losing the twins it has been really hard seeing the ladies I was ttc-ing with go on with their pg's....I still keep myself off most of the time

I had my shg yesterday and things looked great - just one tiny fibroid that the technician said she would have missed had I not told her to look for it....no other obvious abnormalities that would cause a m/c - although that still leaves us looking for a reason...our peri said it was probably due to poor implantation complicated even more by the twins (my lining had been a little thin at the follie scan and that always bothered me, plus happytracy also had a thin lining and bleeding so it seemed too much a coincidence).

Anyways, I have been working on losing weight and exercising (down about 13-14 pounds so far). And yesterday I had a dominant follie at 16 mm and ewcm today (haven't seen that in a long time). I am only on 2000 mg met. Have to wait till tomorrow to bd and am hoping that we catch an O - or at least get an O. We have a follow-up with the RE in 2 weeks so if not this cycle, maybe a medicated cycle at the end of the month or May

I'll check in every now and then and keep you posted. .

QOTD: The PCOS really snuck up on me. I had regular periods and no obvious symptoms until I was 27. I was always heavy but not obese. Then blam! My periods stopped coming, and I gained weight, saw more facial hair etc. I got a tentative PCOS diagnosis (never had ovarian cysts or string of pearls) based on amenorrhea and some bloodwork. My periods came back on their own for 8 months after two rounds of provera and I thought I was back to normal. Then the periods disappeared again right when we wanted to start ttc. This whole thing is a total nightmare because it caught me off guard. The metformin alone didn't work so we tried clomid and got lucky our first round only to lose our babies at 17 weeks.....For me the infertility is the worst, everything else I can deal with.

  • Hi Ladies,

I didn't know this group existed. I have been dealing with PCOS pretty much since puberty. My sisters all have it as well, as well as most of my aunts and female cousins on my Dad's side of the family, some more severe than others. I have been TTC since November 2001, and in August 2005, I switched careers, which meant that my insurance was covering fertility treatments. We started seeing an RE in August 2006, had a blighted ovum in April 2007, quit trying for a couple months, got pregnant on a second IUI cycle with Follistim in November 2008 (due 8/2/08), lost my twins at 18 1/2 weeks (3/2/08), took a few months off, and now I am pregnant with a girl (got pregnant with Clomid and IUI in November 2009, due date is 8/2/09). It's been a long road, but I am lucky to even have the opportunity of being a mother of angels, and (praying) of a little girl. My name IRL is Rosamaria

QOTD: PCOS affects every woman differently. The way that I was able to somewhat control my PCOS was to exercise non-stop. (I was able to have regular cycles for like 3 months after having lost 20 lbs.) But alas, the effects did not last long (and I became a bit too busy for exercising so much). I tried the Zone diet, no carbs, and vegan diets. None really did anything long lasting. While living abroad, my cycles did become more regular. And I tend to cycle normally more in the summertime than in the winter. At times, I can go 6-12 months with amenorhea, although I try not to (sometimes, I use Provera). I am probably a more severe case, but this has been the case with my sisters and I (two of us are normal weight, two of us are overweight). (Although, my sister did get pregnant right after getting a tummy tuck. I think quick weight loss triggers ovulation in us?) It's been a frustrating thing to deal with, and there doesn't seem to be too much research out there.

  • I feel like I'm wasting everyone's time reading my non-updates.  We're still trying to decide when the best time is for a HSG and maybe a follow-up lap.  It'll likely be a little later in the year, so we're going to continue in our holding pattern.  However, there was a little pregancy possibility last month that made my OB/GYN remind me that fertility, in the end, is between me and God, and not me, and him, and DH, and the RE, and the lab tech, and everyone else at the hospital.  I laughed, but it was a nice little reminder.

QOTD: I wish I could answer that for you, but I also have endometriosis, so my fertility journey is entirely atypical of someone with only PCOS.  My primary challenges have come from the endo, with a little bit of hormonal imbalance thrown in for flavor.   However, I will say that now that I've lost quite a bit of weight, AF is more regular and a lot of my PCOS symptoms are a little less obvious, as my RE felt they would be.  Good luck to you!
