Was/Is the location of the pediatrician's office a factor in your decision?

I have heard great things about an office that is about 10 minutes from our place.  It is affiliated with one of the best children's hospitals (CHOP) and has great evening hours.  When I mentioned this to my mom she kind of looked at me strangely and asked why I was not going to take him/her to my old pediatrician who is about 35 minutes away.  

I had kind of thought I would like some place that is a bit closer for those sick visits.  

What do you think?

My MIL works for a Pedi who is 2 HOURS away from us... she's always trying to get me to take our little boy to him.. Um, no. That's a bit too far. We looked into a Pedi who was 5 mins from here and another one who was about 20-30 mins from here, and are picking the one who is farther away because we just feel better about them.

I would DEFINITLY go with the closer one, but I HATE driving places.  It seems like you already found a good peditrician, the fact that they are so close is an added bonus. 

And plus your old pediatrician may be retiring soon... This is the reason I crossed one of the local pediatricians off my list, I don't want to get established and than have them quit on me.

All the moms that have been recommending pediatricians to me have told me to go to the one that is closest to me.  That was the first thing they asked me (where do I live).
