breastfeeding...what bottles?

I want to breastfeed but also pump so DH can feed baby too. For those doing something similar- what bottles are you looking at getting/registering for?

Or should I just do what I've heard other women do and buy several options and let the baby decide what he or she likes best?

Re: breastfeeding...what bottles?

  • I registered for the Adiri Natural Nurser: www.adiri.com

  • I registered for the Munchkin glass bottles with the silicone sleeves.

  • I will probably try a few different kinds to find out what baby likes... but I'll start with whatever bottles fit the pump.

  • you should get several different types, babies tend to choose what they like, not what fancy bottle you want them to like. one of my neices liked dr. brown's and the other one likes plain cheap-o playtex.
  • I registered for the Adiri but I have a BF that has a 2 month old that she just switched from breast feeding to bottles and LO ended up liking the cheap Playtex ones and none of the others. Now I'm thinking I will just keep them in boxes if I get them as gifts then let him decide later instead of not being able to return the gifts.
  • not to burst your bubbles but i would get one of a couple different kinds. that way you can see what the baby uses best instead of wasting money on one they may or maynot use

  • Thanks! I think I will get a couple different kinds and see what the baby likes.

  • I registered for the bottles my SIL recommended to me.  She used the Playtex Drop-Ins with both of her girls and they worked out great.  So we will give those a try...and if the baby hates them, we'll try something different.
  • I'm going for Born Free (BPA-free plastic) and Dr. Browns (polypropylene), per my doc's and friends' recommendations.  That's enough variety for my baby.

Also, friends caution the smaller bottles are a waste.  You can always make less formula in a bigger bottle, but once baby is eating more than the small bottles hold, you're kind of SOL with them.

  • I had registered for Drop-Ins- baby hated them so I had to return everything! We also tried Dr Browns and made him MORE gassy and spit up more!

He has reflux and so far Avent have been the best! Just FYI! I'd try a few!

  • I have heard the Avent is best for breastfeeding because the nipples are most like a breast and help train the baby to nurse.
  • i did the same for my son (until he turned 6 months and would no longer take a bottle) and i bought several different ones. ?he ended up liking only the avent ones so that's what we used.
