2nd Trimester

crazy symptoms

So I went in to the ob last thurs. with symptoms of a uti or aka bladder infection, I get them fairly regularly when I'm not pg so I was pretty sure thats what it was, I get there, he says yea, it sure looks as if you probably have a bladder infection cause there is a little blood in the urine. so we need to start you on something right away, those can get pretty serious with preg.  Anyway, so he does and I've been taking it since thurs. evening and feeling better thank goodness....Then the nurse calls today and says that the culture they sent in came back negative so to stop taking the med.  So it's crazy to me why would there be blood in the urine then???? and its not spotting or anything, it was just in the urine, you can't see any sign of it  Any ideas??  She just said they would recheck at my appt. next tues.  Heard babies hb that day though so that was nice!!  I asked the nurse as to why it would have the blood in the test then and she didn't give me anything for sure for an anwser just a couple examples??  At least i have a appt. next week.

  • yep, exactly.....I've had the same thing same sypmtoms before, with my other uti's, and the blood in urine ext.  But those tests always came back positive for uti ???  Thats why i'm at a loss??  she said sometimes with gaul stones or kidney stones, ext. it can show up with this, she asked if i was still having pain when going potty.....Well my anwser was NO because it was never painful to go to the bathroom just that uncomfortable feeling and then feeling like i had to pee again right after i got done, but couldn't go any more???  but it's not bothering me anymore, so hopefully everything will look top shape next tues.  It's my BIG u/s!!!  and reg. visit right after
  • Your urinary tract has a lining just like the rest of the tracts in your body. Those membranes can swell with pregnancy hormones (think stuffy nose, spotting after sex, etc). It is possible that you're just 'shedding' some of the cells that are in the tract and some blood cells popped out too.

When I ran urinalysis (-es?) on patients, the doctors never got in a tizzy about a few red blood cells (or even white blood cells, although they'd watch a little closer).

Is your urine red or pink? Or does it look fairly normal and they just told you there was blood in it?
