Unfortunately DH just started a new job so he is only allowed to take off 2 days. If I make it to my induction date (this friday evening) then he will take off Monday and Tuesday of next week.
DH took off 4 weeks but our situation is a bit different since his job requires him to travel 3 nights a week. He got 1 week of paternity leave and took 3 weeks of personal time. He'll be back to work & traveling in 2 weeks:(
Clomid M/C 8 weeks 2/08 *IVF #1-DD born 3/09
*Surprise BFP-T18 baby lost at 13w 1/10 *FET #1-DS born 2/11
I am hoping that DH will be able to take off a full week once we are home from the hospital. I guess it will all depend on when they are born. I'm hoping they will be born later in the week so that he will be able to stay with us in the hospital and then also take off a full week after that. We'll see. I know he has enough time to take off a 5-7 business days. I am afraid of when he will go back and I'll be alone!
We had planned and filed for 3 weeks off through FMLA, but then Riley came 4 weeks early during the busy season right before X-mas. His boss made it clear that he would either get his butt in the office come Monday or he would be in the next round of layoff. SO NOT LEGAL but what can you do. DH went to work the next Monday. Oh and he did 25 hours of work the week he was home too!
My dh is going to use a few of his sick days when the baby comes. He just started a new job and we are trying to save his vacation time for an actual vacation we have planned at the end of the summer. My mom and sister live pretty close, so they will be able to help me out if I need it.

When Benjamin was born, DH had just started a new job so he was only able to take a few days off. When #2 is born, he will be taking at least a week off but I'm sure he'll be checking his work email while he's home with us. Right now he's trying to save as much vacation time as he can in case I have to go on bed rest at some point or so he can stay home a little longer with us afterwards.
The babies were born around midnight Friday and he was at work Saturday morning! LOL He's a business owner so I can't fault him. He's still been a big help!
DH will take off 3-5 days. ?I don't want him to use his vacation time so he is just going to exhaust his accrued sick time. ?My mom will be with me and so will his, so I know I will probably be ready to get him out of the house haha. ?I would rather him use vacation time when we can do something as family.
My DH works 1.5 hours away, so he commutes every day. He can work from home though (being in IT) I told him when the time is close that he needs to start workign from home because I don't want to wait for him to drive 1.5 hours to take me to the hospital.
After the baby is born I would think he would be home with me for at least a couple weeks. It would be nice to have the help.
DH got a month of paternity leave from his company, and he worked short days for a couple weeks after that, IIRC. He also has been working from home one day a week since then.
We have NO family in this part of the country, so I certainly appreciate the time with him. And DS is obsessed with his Daddy!
Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
DH took the day off when I was in labour, and then had to work about a half day the next morning. I was in the hospital and he was working from home. Then for the rest of the week, he was back and forth. It was the WORST possible week for me to go into labour. Oh well. I had an easy time and his Mom was here to help so we were fine.
I was happy he got to take time off when Reed was 6 weeks old and we went on vacation!
My dh took 2 weeks off. I was great having him around. For us it was the right amount of time. At the end of the two weeks I was ready for him to go back to work and let me get into my new groove with dd:)
For DD - IVF/ICSI #1 - BFP / For DS - dIUI #1 - BFP

Isabel born 10-15-08! / Baby Boy EDD July 2013
DH gets 2 weeks paid paternity leave.. he took 1 week as soon as DS was born and another week when my mom left (she stayed 2 weeks).. I tried to spread the help out we will do the same again this time...
My DH is taking off 2 weeks after we're discharged from the hospital with the option of taking off another 1-2 weeks working from home/half days. He has a really flexible job and gets 6 weeks of vacation a year.

Mine took off a week. He actually went back today.

So does the Air Force, so DH got/gets 10 days. One of the perks, I guess.
when DS was born he took about 1.5 weeks - b/c he had no paid leave.
Now he gets 4 weeks paid paternity and will probably take an extra week of vacation time, too - since it's twins.
