I don't hate it but it's weird if I'm not really close with someone. I do try to remember that no one means it in an offensive way- they are thinking "baby!" not "your personal belly/body."
Those who know me tend to ask first and I am ok with it. I've had a lot of people start to touch it and then stop themselves which I appreciate! Those who can't/don't stop themselves... well, I don't hold it against them.
I'm a waitress, so customers who don't know me usually ask first, to which i most often reply "i'd really rather you didn't" but an elderly lady who only comes to help at the restaurant on Sundays after church service has made a habit of holding my belly with both hands and going off into her prayer world, seemingly oblivious that there are other people zooming around us trying to work. She also does this with way-too-lingering neck hugs.
I think it depends on who it is. There is a woman at our work that is pretty obnoxious and she goes out of her way to touch me. I cringe.
About a month ago, my MIL kept insisting that I was showing (even though the rest of the family firmly said that I wasn't) so that she could molest my stomach.
My MIL & every single person she knows (which is pretty much every filipino women in this city) I have been touching my belly since I was 5 weeks. It really bugs me when practical strangers or my MIL who I dont' get along with touch my belly...REALLY bugs me

I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one! The other day my husband's friend felt the need to touch my tummy after my husband told him that I didn't like it & then got like offended when I politely asked him again not to touch me! WTH?!? My MIL is also bad about the tummy touching, I mean even my mom asks before she touches me. There are a few people that I don't mind, but for the most part my feeling is that 'you didn't help make it so please don't touch it' It doesn't help that I'm super hormonal either LOL

Oh, I guess that I shouldn't complain then, apparently you have it way worse than I do. ?I'm sorry to hear that, it would absolutely drive me crazy!!!!
I still look like regular old me... with a helping of large pizza in my belly at all times... So... no one has tried. Wondering what it will be like when I finally get that little bump though... or if my family will be weird when I see them next week...

I went back to visit my old job this weekend (I was a PT and group Exercise instructor there for 4 years in college) and I got about 400 belly rubs. Everyone gets excited about a baby... even when it's just a baby belly. It doesn't bother me.
It has never bothered me. I've always taken it as a gesture that they are genuinely excited for me (us), happy for me (us), and wishing me (us) well. I think that's nice, and I'll take all the happiness and well wishes I can get.
Oh yeah- also, it's worse if you aren't really showing yet! LOL
This happened to me. I was 14 weeks and my MIL's boyfriend put his hand on my stomach and rubbed. I was very uncomfortable with it because I really haven't known him that long, there wasn't much to feel, and I think he just wanted to cop a feel!
