2nd Trimester

I can't stop eating cheese!

Since I have become pregnant I know that eating soft cheese is bad?bla.bla.bla. but, I have had this horrible addition and craving for cheese! At first it was controllable but now it is just insane!!

I can?t help my self! I have gotten to the point that I love cheeseburgers or anything with melted cheese?. I have never loved cheese this much!!

Last week I knew that I went off the deep end when I bought spray cheese that comes in a can!!! My DH yelled at me ?that?s not even real cheese, and that is hurting the baby?

Of course I started crying and swore to never buy it again. Now worried that all this soft cheese intake is hurting my baby, I am trying to fight it but it is so hard!! Help! is eating al the cheese really hurting my baby?

  • I'm not going to be hard on you because with 27 posts, you probably didn't have that much orientation time in 1st tri.

Cheese is fine.  It is recommended to stay away from unpasteurized cheeses or eat in moderation.  Cheese in a can is far from that category.

  • I second the first post.  Also, most cheeses are pasteurized - just look on the package.  Although cheese in a can is certainly not the healthiest, I'm sure you had fun with it - so please don't worry about it:)  Enjoy the cheese!!!
  • I'm with you! I could eat cheese for every meal every day.  I enjoy Grilled Cheese sandwiches with Mac and Cheese for a side and Cheesecake for dessert.  Probably explains why I've had some constipation issues.  But, I love cheese!!!  I think I need a little therapy.

PP's are right, only cheeses that are unpasteurized, which can't be sold in the US, are bad.  Enjoy your cheese!

  • Paturized cheese is fine. Colby, Jack, Cheddar...all of that is just fine. It's the unpasturized (soft cheese) that isn't good: Brie, Camembert, goat cheese. It's not easy but at least you can still eat some cheese. I love cheese too! :) Colby cheese on Triscuits and grapes. Mmmm
  • Oh yeah: Try the Baby Bels they are divine!
