2nd Trimester

I loathe getting ready for trips.

Ugh...we leave in three days, and we're nowhere near ready.

Sometimes I miss those days where all I had to do was pack up our stuff and go.  Don't get me wrong, living with all the livestock is great - but getting everything sorted for their care for 4-ish days is such a pain.

I think I'm finally understanding what DH meant about "farmers never leave home" when we first meant.  You worry constantly about whether they'll be taken care of they way you do.

*panics about needing city-girl time badly*

Re: I loathe getting ready for trips.

  • yeah, i can't trust anybody to take care of the animals, and i only have a small percentage of what you guys have. but you need some city girl time. and BRU time. just don't drag red with you.

We raise beef cattle, mostly.  But we also have a couple dogs, a shiitload of barn cats, and chickens.

Jells, I'll be going apeshiit just at being able to drive less than 5 miles to a Wal-Mart.  Don't get me started on going to real malls for baby/maternity shopping - since it's Savannah's bday next Sunday, we're making a big trip on Saturday.  I'm normally not a shopper, but I'm geeked.

  • ::wonders if I have a new friend I can buy a half-cow from::

I 150% understand, I have plenty of friends and family that have their own livestock to take care of. They'll be fine!

Where are you going on your trip?

  • DH wants to move and start a farm.  I have much respect for you girls that do it.  I don't know that I could handle all that work!!!

  • Leenie, I'm sure we could work out a half for you - an hour drive is nothing compared to the 12 hours it takes to get to Michigan (and my aunt and uncle want a half - that's going to be interesting).

Jamers, I am actually a major city girl.  I swore I'd never help with ANYTHING between livestock and the crops.

I still won't do crops, but I can't help but love it when I get headbutted by a 700-pound calf who wants treats.

  • Wait a minute, no one said you were allowed to leave.  Who will keep us entertained while you are gone?  Jelli is getting sick, so her wit might suffer... At least we have Redd and Blair is over here now. Smile

  • yay for shopping in a real mall taelir!!!!

  • Oh I'll have my laptop with me.  Hell, I even play online on the road because I get bored - that's the fun of having internet through your wireless carrier!

I'm sure I'll be on from time to time, but no guarantees ;)
