Size of Maternity Pants?

So, ladies, how big do my maternity pants have to be in order for them not to get too small.  I am 15 weeks, and really haven't gained anythng but a little weight in my belly, so I'm confused when I try on pants. Should I be looking for maternity pants that are too big in the legs and bum now?  Or should they basically fit and just have belly room?

Thanks!

Re: Size of Maternity Pants?

  • Go up a size. They should be a little baggy now.

  • I was more concerned with the belly room. ?I got ones that fit the legs/butt... not tight, but just right. My first pair, around 13 weeks, was a half band and really thick, which I don't wear anymore bc it's too tight and uncomfortable. ?The ones I use now have a full panel and the material is really light, a little thicker than panty hose. ?They are really comfy!??

  • I bought the same size that I wore pre pg, but my belly growing wasn't the problem, it was my butt... so I went up a size.
  • I bought maternity pants at 13 weeks that are kind of a yoga material...they are half-panel and still fit perfectly. I bought maternity jeans at 19 weeks...they are full panel and still fit just fine. I bought both types of pants for the size I was wearing at that time, and I've had no issues wearing them this much later in the pregnancy.

The clothes I've bought have been in my regular size.

Your legs won't get any bigger.

  • With my first pregnancy, I bought my regular size in maternity.  All the weight I gained went to my belly, and my legs and butt didn't change at all.  You just never know what your body's going to do...if you buy a size up, they might be baggy your entire pregnancy, or you might grow into them.  Take your best guess.
