2nd Trimester

Is anyone else's skin still breaking out?

I'm SO frustrated with my pregnancy skin... My skin used to be pretty good, with a breakout once every couple months. Since about week 7 into this pregnancy my skin has been crap, and I haven't gone a day without a new zit popping up under my skin. My forehead and chin get the worst of it. It's so gross and embarrassing!

Does anyone else still have breakouts this far into pregnancy? I remember reading that skin was supposed to settle down after the first trimester, but I've had no luck on this front. Am I alone in this? Any tips on dealing with it - or am I just stuck with this until the baby is born?

  • My skin sucks. I have the opposite of pregnancy glow. Somehow my skin manages to be dry and break out at the same time..
  • Mine has stayed really bad the entire pregnancy so far.  It's mostly on my chin area.  I had heard that those having boys tend to have better luck with skin but that has not been the case for me...at all.
  • my face isn't too bad anymore. it's my back!! i guess i can at least cover that up easily!! I am still using cetaphil and a clean and clear exfoliant a few times a week. seems to be helping!

  • *raises hand* Had to switch makeup - only using mineral powder now instead of liquid foundation. Also keeping face clean with Neutrogena face wash.?

Well I'm glad I'm not alone - but sorry to hear you're all suffering like me!

I actually had my hair stylist cut me some bangs in an attempt to cover up my forehead zits. And I don't look good with bangs.

  • Yes! My skin looks blah and to top it off I've had a weird blotchy looking rash on my chest that won't go away. It came at 12 weeks and never left. I have to powder it now or it looks too red!!! GrrrSad
  • my skin itches.. ALL THE TIME.  I am driving myself and DH nuts over it.  I wake up ripping the covers off, taking my bra off while driving down the highway ( DH is driving btw), itchy itchy itchy!

  • I'm still getting them here and there, but the majority of them cleared up a couple of weeks ago.  I was the same as you were pre-pg, usually about one/month or so.  Then, around 7 weeks I got tons on my forehead around my hairline.  Those have cleared up.  Today, one painful zit popped up in the center of my forehead.

  • I have never in my life had perfect skin (unless you count birth to age 12).  But its been WAY worse in the last few weeks.  My forehead looks like I have chicken pox.  And I just got two NASTY volcanoes between my chin and lower lip... they make me feel like a wicked witch they're so big!  I need to find a good exfoliant without parabens and salicylic acid.

  • I wish I could be the one to give you some hope and tell you it clears up by 3rd tri but it doens't.  At least not for me. I've had it since week 12 and just gets worse. I was using Clinique face wash and mosturizing lotion but didn't work. I just bought Cetaphil a few days ago so we'll so how that works.  I have them all over my chin, forehead and on the side of my nose. I hate it!

My face, chest and shoulders are still covered. It seems to be subsiding a bit, but I'm still quite toad-like. My doctor recommended Oxy 10 and Clearasil. I just started with the Oxy 10 yesterday and I have my fingers crossed.

  • I feel like I still have my "monthly" breakouts, and right on schedule.
  • I have nasty red/crater zits all over my chin and neck.  the actual zit goes away in a few days the red spots are sticking around for weeks.  I finally got a referral for a dermatologist.  They were able to give me cortizone shots for the worst ones and gave me 2 (safe) prescription lotions- one for day and one for night.  He was referred to me by my ob/gyn and the meds are safe.  i'm only on day 2 of the treatment though so hopefully it will help.  he said other than this there's nothing else to really do but wait it out...

i've never had great skin but pre-baby my skin got better when i cut most of the refined sugar and processed stuff out of my diet.  i want to get back to that but all i want to eat is junk food....
