There is a 4 year old boy in my client's classroom who has been complaining of headaches for about 4 months now. About 2 months ago, he began randomly throwing up. His mother took him to his pediatrician who said that everything was fine. His teachers at school told her not to worry, "It was probably just avoidant behavior because he didn't want to come to school."
Last Wednesday, his mother took him to a specialist in a nearby city. They found a tumor approximately the size of an orange resting on his spinal cord in his brain. The tumor was leaking fluid into his body causing the vomiting.
He was scheduled for surgery Thursday afternoon and was given a 30% chance of surviving the surgery. As of Friday there had been no news. I am hoping that no news is good news, but I am preparing myself for what news may be waiting tomorrow.
He is such a smart, sweet little boy and his family is extremely caring and wonderful. Please keep this family (Mom, Dad, and 2 year old brother) in your thoughts.
