Re: Sicko

  • I have. I really enjoyed it. I am a huge MM fan :) I don't completely agree with everything he has to say but I do enjoy his movies.

  • So, it seems I am the only one that is watching this right now, but lemme fill you in. The part I am watching right now (the whole thing is about American Health Care by the way) is about your pre- and post natal insurance. When the new family leaves the hospital in London, they have to stop at the cashier. Now in America we are slapped with a bill, but not there. Oh no, no they are asked if they had to pay for public transportation to get to the hospital and if they did the cashier will then reimburse them for their troubles. Hhhmmm, interesting. I get a hefty bill they get money back?

  • Wait 'til you get to the women in France and their free nanny. lol

(not a permanent one or anything, but that was the biggest slap in the face for me)

  • -sighs- I absolutely loath MM. He?s so damn one-sided and unbelievably biased. MM said some pretty ignorant statements on F/911, which proved to me his stereotypic views, are just that.

For all I care he can go over seas for his health care he?s going to need it very soon on the path that he?s going physically.

  • Ugh...can't stand Michael Moore!!  Agree with pp that he is VERY one-sided.  By the way, people in England get free healthcare because they pay an exorbitant amount of taxes.  It's not like it's just free!  Plus their healthcare isn't nearly as good as ours.  Look into the healthcare systems of other countries and you will feel better about ours...

  • Love MM, and think that movie should be required viewing material for every American once they hit voting age.

  • That movie was good!  It made me what to move though!  If it wasn't for our family we probably would have moved!
  • I worked for a large insurance company negotiating contracts between them and hospitals.  This is the first job I had out of college and after working there for only 3 months, I knew that I was on the wrong side of the fight.  So when we watched Sicko the first time, I could relate to the American stories.  MM does tend to be one sided, as most commentators are...but this movie really hit it on the mark.  I knew insurance companies were shady, but some of the stuff I learned took me by surprise.
