**Bubbly**

Hey, I've never asked you a meds question before but I hope you don't mind.  I guess if you do you'll tell me :)

Anyway Max is on Axid, and as he gets bigger we have to keep upping the dosage.  He's at 2.3ml right now for his weight from 4 weeks ago (15lbs).  I think I'm going to have to take him in this week to see if he needs the dosage increased again because today he seems to be in pain.

My questions - does this stuff eventually stop working?  Is it one of the stronger meds, or is there something stronger they might put him on?

TIA

Re: **Bubbly**

  • It can stop working, and he can also outgrow the dose.  I would suggest they up his dosage based on his weight gain.  If that doesn't seem to help my next suggestion would be Prevacid.  Will was put on Zantac, but he would not take it because of the smell (and they say babies can't smell or taste LOL).  The Prevacid was a God-send.

  • I am surprised he'll drink this Alimentum stuff anyway, it smells like cheez its and cat food mixed together!  And I have heard that Prevacid seems to work well for babies.  I'll ask the pedi about it when I take him in.  This crap always seems to happen on weekends!  Not that I can't call I suppose...

    Thanks!

  • I don't know what was worse, the Alimentum smell or the Alimentum poops.  Ugh.  I can still smell that stuff.  I pray our next child has a less-sensitive gi tract.

  • You have a point there.  We never have to guess if he pooped or not - it smells like someone opened up a sewer cover!
