Prenatal Exercise

Anyone doing these besides walking? ?The hospital I will be delivering in was previously offering prenatal exercise classes but now they're canceled. ?Pre-pregnancy I worked out often. ?What are you doing for exercise? ?Where do you think I can find another prenatal exercise class?

  • You could buy/rent prenatal exercise dvds.

  • Dh gave me Cardio Workout for the Wii today. So excited to start it. It's not pre-natal or anything but it's freezing outside and I want to do a bit of cardio. The Wii is pretty cool. Smile

  • I run, walk, take yoga (a regular class, but my friend teaches it, so she gives me all the modifications I need) and when I'm really feeling sporty, I do crossfit.... checkout www.crossfitmom.com.  The exercises can be pretty tough, so talk to your doc if you've never done crossfit before.  I try to get to the gym 3x per week.  I'm mostly successful...
  • I have a prenatal yogo dvd, and I am taking a prenatal swimming class offered by my hospital.  I also take the dog for lots of walks!
  • I have a couple of prenatal exercise DVD's that I really like, but quite honestly, I think they will be better suited to me much later in pregnancy.  So, right now I do pilates 4 times a week and I try to get in some dancing with my daughter (I've taken 3 years of belly dance, so it's my favorite thing to do - keeps my hips loose).  You don't have to do specifically prenatal exercises, especially if you are used to working out.   I don't do prenatal pilates - I do regular pilates, complete with on the back exercises - my dr. ok'ed it - in fact she takes pilates from my same instructor (dr. is also pregnant).   I'm not worried AT ALL about on the back exercises, because I break when I need to and also, I'm sure I inadvertently sleep more on my back.....

  • I really like the Prenatal Fitness Fix dvd. 40 minute workout plus 20 minute partner workout.

That's what I do at home when I can't walk outside or get to the gym.

I want to find one of those classes too this summer.

  • My gym offers a Water Arobics class I've been wanting to take-however the water feels SO cold to me and I have Fibromyalgia so it is a REAL deterent to taking them.  I use to lift weights ALL the time but my Doctor wants me to avoid that for the time being since I could easilly hurt myself with out realizing it immediately.  I am going crazy waiting for it to warm up enough outside a can go walking more!
  • I have a fitness ball that I use, and also I do the elliptical 5x per week. On the fitness ball I do more balance things than ab things.. but I think it helps.
