I finally found the outfit I want to use for Audrey's hospital picture on zutano.com.  However, their NB size only goes up to 18 in. and they don't make a bigger size in the pattern I want.  I can't decide whether to buy it or not because of that.

Doesn't 18 in. seem a little small?  I could understand 20 in. or so, but 18???

18" does seem rather small.A quick yahoo search showed that the average length for a newborn is 19-21 inches.

See, that's what I was thinking too!  The set is around $40 total and it seems like a lot to spend on an outfit that probably won't be long enough.  Oh well...the search is on again!

Unless you have a huge newborn, it should fit just fine.  DS was 18 in at birth and the newborn stuff was huge and fit him until he was 2 months old.  DD was just born at 18.75 inches and i'm fairly certain the NB size outfit I have for her is going to be WAY to long.

I think it really depends on what kind of outfit it is. If it was a sleeper type I'd definitely say you should spend your money on something else, but if its something that doesn't have feet or pants, you could probably get it (i.e. a dress-on a baby length doesn't matter so much when it comes to dresses--DD was in 0-3 month onesies until she was 9 months old because her torso was so little but her legs were sooooo long)
