3rd Trimester

feeling sorry for myself...

it just hit me..I have 39 days (give or take a few) left until the baby is here....my summer is going to be baby baby baby...probably no white sox games (dh & I go to quite a few each year), no last minute plans with friends to go out...I'm quitting my job in LESS than 5 weeks! I just feel like my life is over...I know I'm being a brat... I love that God is giving me a baby after trying for 16 months of trying but I'm all of a sudden scared & sad & idk....i guess just emotional (pg hormones).  Has anyone else had these emotions lately?

Re: feeling sorry for myself...

  • I know how you feel.  It can be overwhelming as it gets closer.  But think about how fun it'll be to take a little kid to a baseball game in a few years!  That'll be a blast.  Focus on the positives!

  • I did the same thing last week. I ended up leaving work and crying the whole way home and into the night. DH and I had a big talk and he was having some of the same feelings. However, after talking to several people about it we realized that this is natural to sort of mourn the "loss" of your previous life although you're not really losing anything. You're gaining more than we could ever imagine. Hang in there.
  • You can still go to White Sox games! I went to my first one at 6 weeks!!

But, in general - your life is not over, you are just beginning a new chapter. And different does not necessarily equal bad.

  • That is totally normal!  The life that you had before will not be the same ever again.  But once you meet your baby that wont matter.  You can still go to baseball games, and hang out with friends it will just take more effort than before.  And all of it will be completely worth it!

Just take advantage of the time you have now before the baby is born.

  • Ditto the PPs advice to think about the positives :) There are things that will have to be given up, but think of the joy that your little one will bring you - as cheesy as that sounds, it always makes me smile.

I went to my very first MLB game when I was 14 days old - Mariners vs. Yankees :) When we go visit our families in Seattle a couple of months after our daughter is born, we are definitely taking her to see the M's play. My dad is so excited to take his granddaughter to her very first ball game!

I totally feel like crying right now! I feel like such a brat for feeling this way but I just can't help it. DH is at the firehouse right now so I can't even talk to him about it :o

On top of feeling this way about my life being over I feel useless around my house...I can't do anything w/o my sciatica stabbing me in the butt. There is so much to do around here and I have to depend on everyone else to help me vaccum, was the floor, wash dishes, unpack the new baby stuff...I'm so not the type to ask for help & am hating the whole situation! UGH! Sorry for being such a baby.

  • My DH is ready to take DD to Rangers opening day 5 days after my scheduled c/s! She already has her baseball onesies ready too. Don't worry. What you're feeling is natural. I'm sure you'll soon realize that your life isn't over, you're just beginning a new chapter! A much more fun and exciting one, at that!

This... and think about all of the new and exciting things you will get to do with LO over the things you wont get to do!
