And I actually am. We moved up here to Ft. Drum a couple weeks ago from Ft. Benning, so wasn't like I had a choice in the switching. But my blood pressure has been pushing the limit my whole pregnancy (close to 140/90 every time) but my doctor down there never seemed to think it was an issue, until right before I left for NY, and her philosophy was "let them deal with it up there." So I finally went in today to see my new midwife for the first time, and lo and behold I had the high bp again, and she sent me right for blood work, a 24 hr. urnine test, and an ultra sound to make sure she's been growing alright in there this whole time. While all of this is a bit overwhelming and scary, it's nice to know I finally have a doctor who is being proactive.
Re: So happy I switched doctors at 37 weeks
Obviously earlier than you - but I still felt it was late - I just switched doc's too. I'm happy with my decision also. They seem to be paying more attention to things at this practice. I was a little ticked off at my old drs actually.
First off, I've been talking about having a water birth for the past several months, and they just recently told me, oh, we don't do that here...um, ok...thanks for the notice. Then, I go into my new drs office and they start all the genetics questions, which with them, includes if either one of us is French Canadian. Yes, DH is. They didn't test him for Tay-Sych's? Um, no. Did they ask you about it? Um, no....thanks dr. #1!
So freakin annoying.
