Anyone get their breast pump covered and needed a special code for insurance? They said I need a HCPC or and L-code? I'm not sure if that means I have to order from a medical supply company or what. Most places are closed now and I don't want to wait until Monday to find out. Maybe I'll call BRU and ask... hehe.
Re: breast pump and insurance
Is it covered by insurance per doctor's orders or for a certain diagnosis, or just in general? I would check with your OB, but a HCPC or L-code is just a code for durable medical equipment. It'll be a 5 digit code. When I did a google search, I got:
Breast pump: accessories, A4281-A4286 electric, any type, E0603 heavy duty, hospital grade, E0604 manual, any type, E0602Or check out this link:

Thanks! It sounds like I need a script but the guy from the insurance company didn't specifically say that. He just said they're covered with a certain code and when I asked about the code he didn't really answer my questions, just told me I needed a code. I think I'll try calling the insurance again on Monday and hopefully I'll get someone else!
He might be talking not just about a HCPC code, but a ICD-9 (diagnosis) code. I'd definitely call back and verify, and get a script from your doctor. Good luck!
When I had my DS my insurance did cover the breast pump. The pedi will give you a script ("latching issues" is usually the reason) - I didn't actually have any issues though. I did have to get it at a medical supply store - but it was the Medela Pump In Style and I loved it (as much as one can love a breast pump).
