Baby sleep book suggestions

I just had lunch with a good friend today who has two young kids. She swears by two books that helped get her babies on a sleeping schedule. She also works at Parents Magazine so I trust her judgement and wanted to pass along her suggestions. They are:

Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Marc Weissbluth

The Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano?

The Happiest Baby On The Block (though she said watching the DVD is a better idea)?

?She also mentioned this herbal solution if your baby has colic that is amazing. Its called Colic Calm and is the only thing that worked for her.?

Just passing the info along.?

Re: Baby sleep book suggestions

  • I will 2nd Happiest Baby on the Block!!

We also have The no-cry Sleep Solution.  It was recommend to me by a friend.

DD never had any sleep problems...she was really easy in that respect.  She's a kiddo who LOVES her sleep!! We're hoping this little one will be the same way!  Happiest Baby on the Block is good for soothing at any time, not just for sleeping time.  Oh and swaddles work great too!

  • Loading the player...
  • Oh, and I can't tell you anything about colic...DD never had it, but she was pretty gassy (A LOT of spit-up) and we used Mylicon and that worked pretty well.
  • I read Happiest Baby on the Block before DD was born. I think it works great, but again, she never really had any sleep problems. She was sleeping through the night at 11 weeks and hasn't really had any problems since. So, either she was a naturally good sleeper or the book just taught us how to handle her well!

?Also, as she got older ?and I was trying to establish some nap times, I used the EASY method. She would Eat, then have Activity time, then Sleep...that was followed by "Your time." ?
