did you get stretch marks?

I have not gotten any to this point, but a friend of mine came to visit the other day and she said she hadn't gotten any either until she hit 38 weeks (she had a singleton) and then he dropped and that's when all hell broke loose.  She said she could feel each stretch mark coming on.

Ack!  I thought I'd be safe, but I am pretty sure I'll have the boys next week and all this time they've been riding kinda high instead of low.

Did you make it without stretch marks?  If so, when did you deliver?

:)

Re: did you get stretch marks?

  • If you don't have them by now I'd *guess* you'll be ok.  I got them but I got them very early on.  Mine were flaming red and angry while I was pregnant.  Now they're just shiny and a different texture than the rest of my skin but not nearly as bad as I thought they'd turn out to be.

  • I got stretch marks - they started early on.  But to be honest, now that my stomach has gone back down I can't really see them through all the excess, wrinkled skin.

  • I don't think you are ever safe.  I had just a few marks but noticed after delivering the babies I had new ones that were not there before they took the babies out.  Not sure how that happened!
  • My stretch marks have their own stretch marks.  All I need is white and blue stripes and my belly would look like seersucker.

That being said, I didn't get any until fairly late in the pregnancy, I can't remember exactly.  I remember thinking that I was going to be one of the lucky ones, and then they started.  And stretch marks that I didn't even know were there showed up after delivery, my belly was so stretched that there were stretch marks that you couldn't see until after I delivered.

  • I thought I'd be a road map since I do have stretch marks on my thighs BUT I didn't get any as a result of my pg (i delivered at 37wks).  However, my flat stomach is now a pooch - if all this lifting of babies would translate into a tight a@@ and flat abs, I'd be set.
  • Oh yes, I got them I started getting them at 15w!! My belly is a wreck. Also, I found I have a couple on the inside of my thighs, though they are really white and thin now. I had the girls at 37w1d.

  • I delivered at 36w4d and didn't get any UNTIL after I quit bfing around 6 weeks after. I got one little one on a boob, that's it. My old belly ring hole started to tear, though.
  • I did not get any and my babies were 6 and 7 pounds.  I gained 51 pounds and delivered at 34 weeks, 1 day.
  • My kids were huge, but I didn't get them until the last week or two. I thought I was free, but no such luck.
  • I didn't get stretch marks with my first singleton, but at 13 weeks they came on my breasts with the triplets about 20 weeks they came on my stomach!  Just use Tons of cocoa butter!! and hope for the best!!

  • I didn't get them and went full term with my twins (38 weeks).  They were each around 7lbs too.  I never used special lotion either.

I did get a streached out tummy (skin) and I'm not sure if that will ever go back to normal.

  • I delivered at 36 weeks and didn't get stretch marks until after they were born.  :-(
  • with dd i went to 39 and then just got one...that is less than 2 inches long.  i have several now...pretty light ones though started getting them at 34 wks.
  • Here's the pisser - Even if you don't have any now, stretch marks are also made by rapid weight loss, so when they take the boys out and your belly shrinks back down, you might end up with some.  I believe that stretch marks are genetic - like how elastic your skin is, that kind of thing.  I lathered myself up like a greased pig with cocoa butter every single day and I STILL got stretch marks, but only with my first (a singleton), and only at around 34 weeks or so.  With the triplets, it was as if my old stretch marks kind of just filled back out.  Weird huh?  LOL  I only had a couple timy ones pop up on the sides of my waist.  But, I 've always been fat and have a ton of stretch marks covering my entire body (one of my ex BF's once asked me if I was mauled by a tiger or a dog or something - @sshole) so what the hell; at least now I have a good excuse for them.  :)
  • wow - i am amazed at how many of you guys didn't get them!!  (and i hate you a little haha j/k ;)

mine started around 31w, and now they are hideous... only to get more and more attractive i'm sure ;)  ah well....

  • I didnt get 'em until AFTER i had the babies! My tummy is a wreck, I've lost almost all of the weight but dont look like it because of the wrinkled skin.  So the skin started to sag and boom, stretch marks : (

  • I didn't get any.  I had the girls at 38 weeks exactly.  I thought for sure that I would get them because I've heard it's hereditary and my mom got stretch marks when she was pregnant.  Plus I was enormous at them end.  Just huge and the babies never really dropped.  Good luck.
  • I don't have any, but I had my babies at 33 weeks.

  • I have none and I carried to full term.  And I was stretched waayyyyy out in front.  So it is possible to not get any.
  • I delivered at 33 weeks and did not get any on my stomach.  However, I did get a couple on my boobs when my milk came in :(
