I fell in love with a bookshelf idea from Pottery Barn Kids. It's a bookshelf that can also be used as a dollhouse for our daughter when she gets older. However, my DH and I can't afford the $400 price tag, so we decided against it. Well, we were walking through AC Moore one day and to our surprise, they sell a very similar bookshelf in the unpainted furniture section! It was $99, but I had a 50% off coupon, so we ended up paying $49.50 for it. We picked out some coordinating paint colors for about $2.00/bottle and some paint brushes, loaded the bookshelf in the car and about 3 hours later, our version was finished! I just wanted to put this out there since I thought it was such a cute idea. Granted, ours isn't perfect, but the fact that it saved us about $325 made it well worth it. On the left is PBK version and on the right is ours.

Re: PSA about Pottery Barn PIP
I always use pottery barn as a jumping off point for decorating ideas and then try to recreate the same thing cheaper elsewhere (of course it's not uncommonf or me to splurge on the real thing either though).
My husband and I also found some shelves I loved at pottery barn kids and I couldn't see paying of 50 bucks a piece. My husband built 2 of them for 30 bucks.
It always feels good to save a little
