Please Explain

What exactly does a contraction feel like? Does your entire stomach have to be hard. Will you have pain thoughout you entire abdomen or can the pain be low one time and high another and on one side another? I don't know if these bad pains are just bad pains or if they might be contractions.

When I am contracting, my entire stomach gets really hard.  To test if I'm having a contraction, I split my stomach into 4 areas and press on all 4 to see if they are all hard.  If they are, I'm having a contraction.   Most of mine start with pain low, but not all of the time.  And I've heard that where the pain is can differ.

Contractions feel different for everyone! Considering you are about to burst, if they get close enough together they are probably contractions. Id say if you feel pain + tightening, thats it.

Mine seem to be tightening up top and pain down low. During my NST this morning, I felt like I was having bad menstrual cramps and the doctor said those were contractions. HTH
