Babies: 9 - 12 Months

weaning a dreamfeed - I need advice!

Now that DD is 9 months, I'd like to wean the dreamfeed.  She goes to bed at 7-7:30pm and we usually give her a 6oz bottle at bedtime.  Then we give her another 6oz bottle at 9:30pm or so.  Then she sleeps until 6-6:30am.  I know I need to somehow make sure she is getting that additional food during the day, but how do I go about that?  Also, how to stop doing the dreamfeed itself?  I don't want her to wake hungry at the normal time -- should I maybe offer it earlier and earlier each night until it's basically right after bedtime? And maybe I could increase the bedtime bottle to 8oz?  I'd love to hear advice from anyone who has done this.   TIA!

  • Probably not the advice you are looking for, but I just stopped nursing one night and he slept all night long.  Have you tired to just stop cold-turkey?

  • Personally I haven't fed DD in the middle of the night in months. I only do it if she is very very awake and won't go back down. DD goes to be around 8:30 and I don't feed her again until 6am. She wakes up twice in the night, but is usually easy to soothe back to sleep with a paci and a tummy pat.
