Babies: 9 - 12 Months

giving up baby food? arg

I'm wondering if she is giving up baby food or more specifically me feeding her with a spoon.  Which stresses me out because I don't know what to feed her or how to get it in her mouth.  She tries to feed herself bread bits, but misses a lot.  I know I can give her what I eat, but I don't eat all that well rounded and feel like I have a hard time finding time to cook anything.

Encouragement?  Advice?

  • I'm sorry - I don't have much advice, but I just wanted to say I could have written this post!!!!  My DD just is not an eater.  She gets mad when a spoon comes towards her now, but there is hardly anything that goes into her mouth when she tries to self feed.  Plus her chewing is not there yet, so I have to have everything soft soft soft, which she promptly mashes through her fingers.  It's way frustrating, and I'm thinking of adding cereal to her 3 bottles that she has in a day.  She's lean now anyway, I want her to gain some weight.

I recently tried the Graduates pasta pickups, but I cut them in 4ths.  She likes them, but it's painfully slow for her to get them in her mouth.  Most times I help her along.  I'm going to try canned green beans cut up and carrots as well...I have tried boiling them myself but no amount of boiling makes them soft enough for her.  I hope this passes for both of us!

  • Our little guy is not the best about baby food. our dr calls it oral aversion because he has had alot of congestions ( and thus nose cleaning) over the past 8 months, he is very suspect of anything coming towards his face.

This is what works for us, he will eat little noodles, they are bite sized and soft and he seems to have an easy time with them also try feeding directly from your plate.
