I saw your post the other day about the hair.  I hope all goes well with your appointment.  My dd has it (and my coworker's dd just got dx with it).  My dd has been using meds for a year and it has improved a considerable amount.  She's too young for injections but I hear they work very well.

Re: makinroom4baby

  • Honestly, I don't want the injections and will probably refuse them if there is another treatment option, or if the Dr can assure me that my hair will not continue to fall out and that the baldness will remain localized. Right now it's simply a bald patch in hy head that I can easily cover up and my eyebrows are thinning, but I can draw them on ;) I just know that the steroid injections cause weight gain and I don't want to have to add that to my plate of things to worry about as well, you know? Right now my main concern is to try and stop it from spreading, but if my hair grows back that would be a plus!! Thanks for thinking of me. My appt is 2 weeks away.

  • My dd was dx at 2 and we put a liquid solution on her hair.  The spots are covered and have sparsely grown in (but it looks so much better, she lost a lot before we did the treatment).  She can't wear ponies or barrettes but it has covered everywhere enough.  That was the only treatment we've done and it has worked out ok.  My friend's dd is doing the same thing right now.  I've been very creative parting dd's hair and she's been very good about it.  Again good luck.

  • Oh well that is good to hear! I wear my hair natural (no chemicals) and I have been pulling it back with a headband to cover the bald spot and no one knows at all :D If there is a simple solution I can use that will work, albeit slowly, without causing me to gain weight then I will go with that option. Thanks again
