F/U: 5th Ear Infection...Time for Tubes...

Well, I am almost relieved. I am terrified about the process but if it will help, I think it is worth it. He just goes from one infection to the next with maybe a week in between without an infection...Poor guy.

We were referred to an ENT for an appt on 4/9. He is on antibiotics again, hopefully for the last time in awhile. Fingers crossed!

  • Poor little guy. We too have had 3 or 4 of them. I am worried that pedi will say the same thing at DS next appt.

  • Don't worry.  DS had this procedure 3 months ago and it's really simple and quick and within a few hours he was on the floor playing like it had never happened.  The only hard part is when they come out of anesthesia they're disoriented, so be prepared for him to wake up screaming.  We just gave him some juice (they can't eat right afterwards because they could vomit from the drugs) and he went to sleep and was fine a few hours later.  I know it's scary but DS hasn't had any ear problems since so it was totally worth it.  GL!!
  • Both of my sisters had tubes when they were around 1 and one had her adenoids out as well.  My mom said that it was the best decision she and my dad ever made.  This was 22 and 15 years ago and from what I understand the procedure has only improved over time.  I am sure it will go great and he will feel so much better afterwards!
