Flat heads... part 2... specialist recs??

Can anyone recommend their Plagiocephaly specialist?

My pedi directed me to Dr. Stelnicki and Dr. Brooks but they seem to be a very "boutique" type of doctor's office which kind of rubs me the wrong way.

I tried to call to make an appt and you can only leave a message. I hate that. Their website has a form for making an appt and it says we'll get back to you in 2 business days. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

I want to talk to someone NOW about a potentially serious medical problem... not be treated like I am calling a dog groomer or something.

So has anyone ever heard of these guys? If so, what do you think? If you've taken DC ot someone else, who was it, where, and did you like them? I don't mind taking Zachary to Miami Children's to see a specialist... I know the doctors there are typically very good.  Please post your referrals!! If you don't want to post here then I would love an email - karen@karenlisa.com is my email address.

Thank you!!

Karen

Dr. Stelnicki's office is HARDLY a boutique office. I've never had a problem getting a receptionist when I've called them. We've been seeing Dr. Stelnicki for almost a year now for Mikey's torticollis. He also looked at his flat spot when we first went but agreed that it wasn't bad at all. He is a very good doctor, even though I don't agree with him 100% of the time. If you are going to see him for plagiocephaly then I recommend you go to his Ft. Lauderdale office (which is VERY nice) instead of his Weston office. They have all of the tools there to measure their head at that office. I recommended him to one of Leanna's friend's whose son not only has torticollis but also plagiocephaly and they've had great results. I have 2 coworkers that have gone to Miami Children's but have seen an occupational therapist, not a doctor. I've even asked our physical therapist and pediatrician if they knew of another doctor I could take Mikey to for a 2nd opinion and she didn't. Dt. Stelnicki is really the only good doctor down here that really specializes in this stuff.

I have a friend who used Dr. Stelnicki for her daughter who had torticolis and eventually needed a helmet... She talked about him a lot (which is why I know his name) and seemed very happy. I wasn't even pregnant at the time and I heard so much about him- I immediately knew his name from your post!

ok, thanks for letting me know. Maybe it was just a fluke that I kept getting a recording, but it really put me off. when it comes to my kid I want to know that I have a doctor who is not going to ignore me, so that's very important.

I definitely feel better about making an appt. there and will try to get in touch with them tomorrow and get in to see Dr. Stelnicki. Thanks for the advice about the Ft Lauderdale office - I will definitely make the appointment there!

I used www.cranialtech.com. They have an office in Sunset... I was extremely pleased with the therapist and office staff.
