Pregnant after a Loss

Decreased Fetal Movement

The past couple weeks the baby girl has been moving around like crazy.  Today I have only noticed a few movements, even after a I eat or drink something sugary, which usually gets her going.  I have a doppler soat least I know her heart is beating away.  Should I call Dr?  Anyone else notice less movement around 26 wks?

Re: Decreased Fetal Movement

  • I have never been as far along as you or tracked baby movements yet, but it couldn't hurt to call. It's probably what I would do, just to ease my mind if nothing else.

  • I'm not quite 26 weeks, but I have also noticed my little girl has not been as active. :( And I do not have a doppler.

    Curious to see other responses!

  • There is a growth spurt in that 23-26wk range that causes babies to not move as much. Many of us experienced this decrease in movement during that time, myself included. If you have the doppler and can find her heartbeat, more than likely she is just sleeping more as her body grows.

But of course, if you are overly concerned, or aren't feeling ANY movement throughout the course of the day, call your doc for some reassurance. I hate slow movement days. ((hugs))

  • I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and Fri-Mon she was moving around like a gymnist.  Tue was much slower and Wed even slower still.  I was a bit freaked but I was busy at work so when I got home I layed on the couch and I did cick counts.  After poking around a bit to waker her I felt 10 movements in about 15-20 minutes.  I also checked her h/b using the doppler.  So since I passed the counts laying on my left side and paying attention to her I didn't worry.  Today she has been more active but still not to the caliber she was over the weekend.  But I'm ok with it since the movement I feel today was normal pre-gymnist last weekend.

  • I'm not 26 weeks but my baby was moving like crazy for the past couple of weeks and now the past three days have been pretty slow. Reassuring to know that this happens to others and everything is fine.

  • I got lectured by my perinatal last friday for not calling about decreased movement. He said I have to call if after drinking a sugary or caffeine drink and laying on my left side for at least 30 minutes - hour doesn't make him move around more. He said it didnt' matter if the heartrate was good that I should call right away.
