This kind of crap Chaps my @ss!

https://lifestyle.msn.com/your-life/family-parenting/article.aspx?cp-documentid=18776490&GT1=32001

An article about a family whose 8yo son experienced a severe brain injury climbing a pole and falling off on a concrete floor sues for 20 million.

As a mom, I'm beyond sorry for their child. It's awful. But come ON suing them 20million???? If the parents couldn't forsee that their kid climbing a pole (that was part of the structural support, not for climing) over a concrete floor was dangerous, how is that BK's fault? Jeeze. So if my child severely injures herself climbing the roof to our house, do I get to sue the bank that owns the majority of it at this point?

And can someone please tell me how many 8 year old boys "talk about getting married and having a family" Oh no, that's a not a @#$#$^ sympathy ploy at all.

  • Ugh. Looks like lack of parenting was at fault here, but that poor little boy!!!

  • That is sad, but how about watching your kid?? Yeah, and an 8 yo boy talks about getting married? The problem is the juries that award these ridiculous lawsuits when people should be more responsible for themselves and their kids. I'm sure they settled because they were afraid a jury would give them even more, plus the legal fees for fighting it. Another case of people getting rewarded for being irresponsible.

  • Wow, just wow. I agree with you. It's sad & horrible but you have to watch your kids. Yeah, no 8 yr old is talking marriage & babies. Most 28 year olds aren't either.
  • While I'm always saddened when things like this happen, I tend to give the parents the Hmm when I see the lawsuits for millions.

I understand being hurt and wanting someone to blame, but it kinda just looks like you're using the situation to make money.

  • Hmm...I'd need to see the playground to form an opinion. Based on the article, sounds like the structural poles were close to and similar in appearance to the monkey bars and were regularly used as monkey bars by children. Also, several prior injuries had occurred and been reported and BK made no changes to the setup.

Re: the millions, the child is severely and permanently brain damaged - the cost of his care for the rest of his life will be enormous.

The only side eye worthy part is the "marriage and children" part - that is complete baloney.
