would polyester vs organic cotton change your mind on bedding?

i'm debating between two sets of crib bedding.  the one i thought i was leaning towards i just realized is mostly polyester, only the fitted sheet is  cotton (not organic though).  the other set that i do really like too is all 100% organic cotton.

i know i just have to make the decision on my own (each bedding is slightly different and will change a few things about how i decorate the nursery)

but would the fabric make a difference to you? just curious :)

Re: would polyester vs organic cotton change your mind on bedding?

  • Our bedding is organic and we love it!

    ?

It's sooooo soft. But we also loved the colors/pattern so we didn't choose it only because it's organic, though now that I've felt it I would never use anything else.

  • We choose organic because DH and I both have very allergies to polyester. I don't want to risk LO getting the same allergies and having a reaction to his bed.

  • i'd say go with the pattern you like better because the polyester stuff won't really be touching the baby all that much anyway, right?  and the sheet is cotton... you can buy extra crib sheets to be organic if you like too...

  • If it were the exact same pattern i'd pick the organic one, but if you like the poly one better, just get it. Seriously if the sheet that baby sleeps on is still cotton so I dont see the big deal.

  • Nope. I would get what I like, whether it's organic or not. I'm not about to change my whole lifestyle to join the organic club, and if I chose bedding based on whether or not it's organic, the world would come to a screeching halt.

I think the organic thing has gone WAY too far.

  • It matters to me. I won't sleep on polyester sheets, so neither will DC. I think they are icky - I much prefer 100% cotton. Plus, organic is SO MUCH more eco-friendly.

But the real question is whether it would change your mind.
