How did you get your oreemie to sleep through the night?

Brandon still wakes up every 2-3 hours throughtout the night. Sometimes he is waking up for a bottle but other times I don't know what he is waking up for. As soon as I pick him up when he is crying he puts his head against my chest, closes his eyes, and is back to sleep within a few minutes. Once 4:30 am rolls around he is up every 15-30 minutes until I finally take him out of his crib at 6:00. I am exhausted.

Re: How did you get your oreemie to sleep through the night?

  • i'm pretty sure it is the swaddle that does it for us. DS was in a halo swaddle sleepsack in the NICU and then we continued with it when we got home. he's way to big for that now, so he's in a regular swaddleme. if he breaks out of it, he's awake. if he stays in, he'll sleep from 9pm to 7am. god bless the swaddle! :) HTH!
  • Honestly, and I know some people disagree with this, that is why we cosleep with Robinson.  He wakes up and doesn't have a restful sleep unless he's right beside me-  the doctor said it's something about my heartbeat and missing that initial bonding period, womb time, etc.  The very first night he was in there with us, he slept from 10pm-6am.  I couldn't figure out a reason either, b/c when I would pick him up, he'd fall right back to sleep....now he goes down at 7, wakes up at 10 for a bottle and then goes back down until 6am.  I know this may not help, but just wanted to let you know that he did do the same thing and this was the only thing that worked for us.  Good luck!
