Adeline had her 1 month check up this morning (I still can't believe it's been a month already!), our doctor had found a heart murmur when she was born, but wanted us to wait until her 1 month check up to see if it was still there or if we needed to pursue something else. Well today, he listened for about 10 minutes having DD in different positions, etc., and it was still present, so next Friday we're going to the Pediatric Cardiologist. I'm kind of nervous about the whole thing. I know it my heart she'll be okay, but it's kind of nerve wracking to think about. I stopped in at work today for a staff meeting and was telling my co-workers about it and a few of them have children that had heart murmurs at birth, but they closed up by time they were a year old, so that made me feel better.
Re: Have to take DD to Ped. cardiologist
Here's another success story for you: I've had a heart murmur my entire life and it has never caused me a single problem.
GL! I'm sure she'll be fine!
she's ONE month, oh my! I know a few people whose murmurs never have caused them a problem.
Thanks! This helps me feel better! We're taking the other two to daycare and Amelia will have to miss preschool that day because I don't have anyone to take her or pick her up, because we'd have to leave before she'd go to school and I don't think we'd be back by 11am to pick her up. So we're just taking them both to daycare.
Nathan had a hole in his heart and a murmur, it was gone by 3 months also!
Good luck to you. I hope it is as minor as Nora's was!
Ava was born with a heart murmur. They checked it out @ the hospital and continued to do so until she was one. At one it was still there so her pedi sent us for a appointment with a pediatric cardiologist ( 4 days after Ella was born - talk about the hormones!) She checked out all clear and will probably always have the murmur. It is what they call a functioning murmur though and will never giver her any issues. We don't even need to follow up with a cardiologist.
Good luck, I know how nerve racking it can be!
