DS falls asleep after about 5mins of nursing. I tickle his feet and cheeks, I undress him, wipe his face with wet rags, undress him and now I'll change his diaper in an attempt to wake him back up. IF he wakes up he doesnt continue nursing! During the day he'll nurse longer so I dont belive he can be full from 5 mins but what else can it be? He's already gained weight (up 2oz from birth weight) but 1) him not nursing is uncomfortable for me and 2) I worry he isnt eating enough.
WDYT?
Re: NOTHING will wake him up to nurse!
How are his diapers? I ask because my DS also had a lot of trouble waking to nurse his first week. We knew it was a problem because he didn't have any bowel movements after discharge from the hospital. We figured he was sleepy because he wasn't getting the nutrition he needed; we ended up supplementing with EBM through a feeding tube (see bio for details).

sorry, don't know how to link it, but this website has videos that show you about breast compression and how that if you do that, it will keep your milk flowing faster and your lo will stay awake longer (my lc also said this). I've tried it, and I'm not sure of the results, but it may be worth a try!
