2nd Trimester

Less fetal movement?

The past couple of days, I have been feeling less movement from our little guy. He still moves, just quite a bit less than he had been for about a week before that. Yes...I am going to call me OB today, but they are not open yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Less fetal movement?

  • From what I've heard, I think it's still to early at 20 weeks to expect consistant, daily movement (that you feel anyways).
  • He may have just moved into a position where you can't feel him as well.  I'm sure your OB will say everything is fine - but it's still a good idea to call for the peace of mind :)

  • You aren't going to consistently feel the baby at 20 weeks. ?They expect it to be consistent at 28 weeks, that's when you start keeping track of kicks. ?Not now. ?If it's going to make you feel at east then call your OB, but I really don't think you need to.
  • This doesn't sound like anything to worry about, especially if you are still feeling movement (I have experienced the same thing).  Honestly, I wouldn't bother your OB with this.  My OB didn't even want me to start doing kick counts until 26 weeks because he felt it was too soon to expect consistent movement.
  • Eat some fruit - that should get him moving.
  • I'm about 5 weeks ahead of you in my pregnancy, but have been experiencing the same thing the last 3 or 4 days. But my little girls heart rate is just fine and my OB said she has probably just turn and is kicking more towards my back so I don't feel it as much.

I would try not to worry, but call your OB it will make you feel relieved to hear it from a professional. I guarantee you're not the first woman to call about this concern.

    this.

  • I don't feel it as much either, but I think it's starting to fall into a sleep schedule. Also, I think because I was so excited to feel it at first I noticed every little thing. Now it's just become something else that happens to my body. Not that it doesn't bring a smile to my face every time, it's just something I think I've become used to. And I as I write this, *bam* right below my belly button, lol.
