How did you find out he needed one done? DS's tongue is connected further than normal (it causes the middle of his tongue to pull upwards when he sticks it out = forked tongue) but none of his drs ever mentioned it and he was able to breastfeed ok. I've been wondering about this...
One of the key things to look for in a tongue tied child is the middle part of their tonge pulling inwards when they try to stick it out (so it almost makes a V). Also, Carter couldn't stick his tongue out much and his frenulum was almost all the way to the tip of his tongue.
Carter nursed without a problem and never had issues with him being tongue tied and nursing. We kind of noticed it a little bit, but didn't know it for sure until a few months ago when I really was worried about his speech. Before this the Dr told us that he might just be a little delayed. Well his speech was being effected more and more so I kind of pushed a little more and ended up with where we are now.
Re: PIP from Carter's Surgery yesterday...
Glad he's recovering well.
