Anyone live in/near Hartford??

Hi girls, I just found out that we are moving from Texas to Hartford in June and I?had a couple of questions about the area...

1. ?What are some good areas to live in for families?

2. Anyone know of any good daycares in the area?

I live about 20 minutes from Hartford. Sorry, I can't answer you questions, but I know of some playgroups and activities if you need to find other Moms in the area!

we just moved from tennessee to connecticut but we live in northeast corner but my in-laws live in avon which is kinda close to hartford. what areas are you looking at?

I used to live outside Hartford in Farmington. ? ?I think West Hartford, Farmington, Bloomfield and Avon are very nice. ? I would avoid Hartford itself, Wallingford, Manchester or really anything east of the CT River. ?

West Hartford, Simsbury, Avon, Granby, East Granby, Newington, Berlin, Glastonbury and Rocky Hill are all nice places to live and they all have good school systems.

Stay away from Bloomfield.  It's a beautiful town (I grew up there) but the school system has gone to ***.
