Why is it that everyone automatically assumes that if Jon and Kate were to separate that she would get the kids and he would be the one to pay child support? In looking at their situation, it seems to me that, if he wanted to make a case for himself, Jon would have just as good a chance at custody of the kids as Kate would. He works in IT, a field that would allow him to work on a consulting basis or at the very least allow him to set his own hours. If she goes back to nursing, her schedule may or may not work with the kids' schedule. Jon still has a relationship with his family, while Kate has alienated the majority of hers. If the two are struggling over whether or not to continue the show, his desire to put the kids first may be viewed more favorably. All that being said, he might want to think about limiting the time he spends in the college bars around his mom's house, KWIM?
I'm not calling anyone out on this, I've just noticed that most posts on the Nest assume that she gets the kids and he gets stuck with writing the check. Anyone else want to offer up any thoughts?
Re: Another J&K+8 question...
Ditto pp. You have to be a complete loser to, as a mother, lose custody. 50/50 sounds more like it.
I'm thinking spinoff - they divorce but continue the show. It will be all about how they're "making it work" as divorced parents. Ugh!
You're right! That's exactly what they'll do. Consider my Cherios offically pissed in this morning.
