I think telling my three year old I was PG was a mistake

I read in what to expect the toddler years that you should wait until you start showing to tell children his age because the waiting is like an eternity for them.
Well, we told him because we knew if we did not then some unsuspecting friend or relative would ask his thought on the subject.

It is all he can talk about.....

"When is my baby sister coming?"
(He is not even open for the possibility of a baby brother)
"Did you get my Baby sister today?"

Then someone said the baby is in my belly...
"How is she going to get out?"
Later I was eating & he said ....
"MOMMY YOU cannot eat that because the baby is in your belly"
"Will she crawl out your shirt when she is ready?"
"Will my baby sister share my bathroom?"
"will she sleep upstairs with me?"

I know it is sweet that he loves his new baby sister
(I dunno what we will do if it is a boy)
I hope this dies down or it will be a long 9 months

Re: I think telling my three year old I was PG was a mistake

  • My dd is 3 and I can see her being like this.  But maybe he'll ask all his questions at the start and then he'll reduce them to a few a day, lol.   He's a cutie.
  • so cute how concerned and excited he is already.  when I was little I was told that there was a belly button key that was used to get the baby out... the closer I got to dd's delivery date, the more I was wishing it was true Smile
  • Loading the player...
  • Oh how I wish there wosh there were a belly button key!

That is cute though, maybe I will have to tell him that to stop the constant questioning :O)

  • haha I think DS wants the baby to stay in the belly far from his toys. He also wants only a sister (most likely my fault) and sometimes offers his cookies/snacks to the baby. Most of the time he is content poking around my belly button and talking to my belly. We did take him to 9 wk sono and he keeps asking to go back and see the baby but has never asked when the baby will be here/home.

Side note: Last summer we told him that my SIL had a baby growing in her tummy and he pulled up her skirt looking for it.
