2nd Trimester

And a discussion for the evening....

If you've ever done this...

What's the weirdest thing you've ever looked at, foodwise, and thought, "Who decided to try eatign THAT??"

For example, this has always stuck in my head...

I really want to know who had the courage to pull a squid out of the ocean, look at it, and think, "That might taste good..."

Don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOOVE calamari.  but I always wonder how crazy that first guy was to decide to eat THAT nasty lookin thing!

Anyone else have anything like this?  Or am I the only one who thinks about random crap like that?

Re: And a discussion for the evening....

  • That thought crosses my mind often, but I'm a very picky eater so I think it's strange to eat a lot of things, nevermind the first person who thought it was a good idea....
  • I love peanut butter and crispy bacon sandwiches. My aunt told me about it. I also eat vinegar on my scrambled eggs and then salted. My mom got me doing that from the time I could hold a fork.

People look at me rather strangely for both. I'm okay with that. They taste delicious.?

  • Milk. Who thought "Hey, lets drink what is coming out of that cows teat!" But I guess if people never tried it, we'd all have calcium deficiencies.
  • I think that all the time, especially about food that has to be mixed with something else to be good- like chocolate.  Who was the genius who thought to put sugar with cocoa and make my reason for living?

HAHAHAHA.  That's another one of my big ones.  Or to go further, who decided to walk up to that cow and start pullin on that in the first place??

  • I like toasted Peanut Butter Sandwiches dipped in A1 Sauce.  Oh, and that was happening LONG before pregnancy.  I *heart* salt, but I have NO idea what made me think that would be yummy.
  • Who came up with eating any kind of animal... someone had to be pretty hungry to think "I'm going to take a bite out of that cow".

  • To be honest, the concept of eggs baffles me, especially the idea of baking with them. Who thought of baking with an under-developed chicken?

  • Since we're veering off into the "strange personal food combos", I'll add mine...

Mac and cheese with ketchup on it.

Wendy's french fries dipped in a Wendy's frosty (I don't call it a Frosty, I call it fry dippin sauce.  DH says it's cute.  I know I'm just a fat girl with no shame, lol)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with chips ON the sandwich.

Straight lemons, eaten like oranges.  YUMMMMMMMMM.  DH gags when I do that one.

I kind of want to know how long you let an egg go before you can eat it. Do you have to get the egg right after the chicken or can you wait a week and then get it? I'm always afraid that I"m going to crack open an egg and a little chicken foot is going to fall out.

I once got an egg with a bloody yolk out of the carton.

Yeah, I didn't eat eggs for a looooooong time after that.

  • My mom makes a dish that is so good but is disgusting to tell somebody what you are making.  You take chicken breast, smear mayo on top, then cover it in parmesan cheese (from the green can)
  • I am from South Texas...many people eat picked pigs ears and pigs snouts, including my father.   I'd like to kick whoever decided that eating pickled, uncooked any kind of animal part, was a good idea...

I do love me some Wendy's Fries, dipped in a frosty. Or even McDonalds Fries dipped in a chocolate shake. Ever since I was a kid, that has been my thing.

OMG that made me think of...  my dad totally loves this disgusting stuff.  It's called "potted meat product"  Literally, that's the name.  It's a paste of random parts of cows, pigs, etc that aren't used for other meats...  he smears it on Saltines.

The SIGHT of it makes me wanna hurl!

Of course, if it is homemade mac and cheese, i usually savor it sans ketchup..

Yeah. Really weirds me out. DH and I drink soy milk. Drinking from a cow's nipple is just too bizarre.

  • I've always wondered about soy milk.  How can you get milk from something that doesn't have a teat??  Shouldn't it be called soy "juice"?  I've tried it and it tasts awful!!

And I'll weigh on weird things I eat - I love hard boiled eggs, still warm, with butter and salt on them.  I also do the french fries in the frosty, and I love put tomatoes in my mac and cheese.

For the record, Cheese and Ketchup are friends.  There is nothing weird about dipping mac n cheese, omlets, grilled cheese, etc in ketchup.  They are matches made in heaven.

  • And its not full of so much calcium as much as it is full of 'cow's tits puss' and 125 injected hormones.....that should be yummmmmm...soy all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..
