How did you prepare to go back to work?

I return to work on Wednesday, April 1.  DH and I are plotting our morning and evening schedules, but I'm curious if anyone has other suggestions.  Did you do a dry-run a few days beforehand?  What things did you do in advance to make the logistics easier?

I know I'll be an emotional wreck, but I don't want to make it worse by leaving my pump at home, or wearing two different shoes, or something.  TIA!

Re: How did you prepare to go back to work?

  • I did some practice runs the week before and it really helped! Today is my first day back and it went just as planned!

  • I just cried. no dry runs, just tears.

  • i don't go back until a week from today, but i already have basically everything ready to go. my pump is ready with everything i need in the bag (bottles, nursing pads, handtowel for drips, etc.). i also have a bag ready for my office (with snacks, tea, Kleenex, etc.). the bags just need to be put into the car. DH will be staying home with Liam on my first two days back at work, so that will help. then, MIL will be here the next three days. so, Liam won't be going to daycare until my second week back at work. hopefully, it will go smoothly that day, since i'll already have been back at work for a week (and it's not EVERYTHING happening on the same morning).
  • Yeah I spent the last few days preparing myself emotionally... I still cried this morning but once I got to work I felt better.
  • I did some practice runs as far as practicing getting up at the time I would be getting up at. Just be sure to have all of the baby's stuff ready the night before so all you have to do is dress him, change him, feed him and go.
